February Guest Teacher

Dear friends, I happily introduce you to our February Guest Teacher, Leifur Wilberg. The dates of his classes are still to be announced.

Leifur started doing yoga regularly 10 years ago as a way to treat himself and calm down mind and body. In July 2016, he found a need to deepen his practice and understanding and went on and finished the 200 hrs yoga teachers training at the Indian Yoga and Meditation association in Risehikesh, India. He learned different yoga styles like Ashtanga Vinyasa, Hatha, Iyengar, Pranayama and meditation. Furthermore he did 10 days Vipassana Meditation course in Nepal and he likes to integrate that knowledge into his classes, which are mainly based on Vinyasa flow style, sometimes very relaxing and healing and at other times, acrobatic and challenging.

"It is amazing how yoga has changed my life to the better, its like the most important things in life, come automatically through the practice of yoga."

October Guest Teacher: Klara Ka

I'm delighted to introduce to you Reykjavik Yoga Guest Teacher of October: The wonderful Klara Ka. Klara will be leading the Saturday morning class the 8th of October and more classes still to be announced.

Klara started practicing yoga with her teachers at Himalaya yoga valley centre in Cork, Ireland in 2012 and has been dedicated to her practice since the very first class and she never looked back. Klara quickly realized that yoga wasn't just about the physical benefits, yoga left her feeling happier and more balanced. After two years of studying with Lalit Kumar and Lisa Fahy she was on the way to India to study the eight limbs of Ashtanga yoga with Lalit at his 200hr TTC in Himalaya yoga valley centre in Goa. Her love and respect for yoga deepened immensely during that month. Qualifying as a teacher was just a beginning of a lifelong journey for we are all forever students in this anscient science. Klara stayed in India for couple of months, exploring the aspects of meditation and ayurveda in the Himalayas and Rajasthan. She’s been sharing her practice ever since. She worked as a full time yoga teacher at a retreat centre in Siem Reap, Cambodia and then went on teaching at a women's spa in Kampot, Cambodia. Klara has an adventurous heart, she has been traveling the world for a decade but it feels like yoga gave her travels a different purpose. Regular practice keeps her grounded and balanced wherever she is and she feels very blessed to be able to share her love for yoga with others around the world. She moved to Iceland only recently and is delighted to be part of the amazing yoga community in Reykjavik. She feels honored to be teaching along great teachers at Yoga Shala and now being a guest teacher at Reyjavik yoga.

Forever student...

My and my mat just arrived here in Stockholm where we will be attending Julie Martin's 5 day intensive yoga workshop. I'm really looking forward to study some fascia and anatomy with her and to explore the freedom in movement that she teaches so brilliantly. I'm thinking we might not be using our mats that much :-D ... Looking forward to share it with you guys when I'm back in two weeks.

Meanwhile, Ása Sóley will be taking good care of Reykjavík Yoga's Vinyasa flow classes and I hope everyone will have a blast!

Spiral energy

Happy new week/new beginning everyone! I'm very excited about these two upcoming yoga weeks since we're going to be working with spiral energy. The human body is fundamentally built in spirals and our bodies move very comfortably with spiral motion.

Continuous flow of energy is what we're aiming at!

Join the spiral flow with Reykjavík Yoga at 5.30 at the Dance Atelier, Skúlagata 30, 2nd floor. See you on the mat!

Namaste.

Spirals are found everywhere in the nature, and in the human body.
